“A captivating, energetic stream of consciousness set to music, in parts akin to a DJ/live dance music set.”
Prepared pianist Hauschka has been at it again. This time it’s said he took his lab of ivory into the mountains of Kyushu, a remote Japanese island; while improvising two twenty minute compositions for a new limited edition live album titled 2.11.14, which is loosely based around compositions from his last release ‘Abandoned City’. 2.11.14 is set for release June 19th on City Slang.
If you are familiar with Hauschka’s previous journeys you’ll know his translation of electronic music to acoustic performance is simply un paralleled on a piano. If you need something to get you back into the studio, you can bet this will inspire you.
In the mean time here’s his live set from Boiler Room In Stereo; utilising prepared piano with an assortment of random timbral elements and complemented with electronic effects.
