Analog Africa are a German label hailing from Frankfurt who have been reissuing and releasing some of the best funky African and Latin music from the 60’s and 70’s.
Their latest release comes in the form of Congan funk band Verckys et l’Orchestre Vévé. The tracks were recorded over almost ten years throughout many years of hardship as the country struggled for independence. Many of these recordings are being heard for the first time, recorded across the continent in a variety of African cities. James Brown saw Verckys perform in Kinshasa in 1974 and dubbed him ‘Mister Dynamite’ – a fitting nickname. The album is out now via the Analog Africa Bandcamp and is available on Digital and 2XLP Vinyl.
