The transformation from green fingered festival in the Yorkshire countryside to northern multi-city takeover will be realised this weekend with the launch of the new look Beacons Metro festival.
Hosting a number of music, food, and art events over the autumn months, the inaugural event promises to dominate calenders. On top of Manchester and Liverpool playing hosts, Leeds will invite a bumper of artists to Belgrave Music Hall, Wharf Chambers, Canal Mills and new venue Headrow House set to kick of the festival.
Headrow House opens tonight Friday 2nd October for the first time in ten years, an ambitious project which set out to restore a former textile mill into a cocktail bar, art space, restaurant and gig venue. Ash Kollakowski and Simon Stevens, founders of the Belgrave Music Hall take on their second venue in Leeds along with the man behind ‘Dough Boys’ and ‘Patty Smiths’ Ben Davy. Tonight sees Headrow House open its doors with a free party hosted by Beacons Metro featuring East India Youth, Ghost Culture, Balearic Social Club and Cave Paintings.
Beacons Metro is set to welcome around 100 acts to the hosting cities. If you fancy the whole shabang, there will be a limited season pass available, granting you access to every venue and gig across the festival as well as guaranteed entry to the free events. The tickets are available over on the Beacons Metro site and start at a very reasonable £60.
