Philadelphia based Universal Cave is a label gaining momentum with every release that is dug out from obscurity. Their latest came from funked up bassline, disco rhythm with a splash of soft-rockster, Duckcomb. Released on 3rd February.
Duckcomb is the moniker of Patrick Billiard – one half of Brooklyn’s Sharegroove – and long time DJ and digger. On the a-side is Bonnevie which is a pure foot stomper and hip shaker consisting of the holy trinity; female vocals, a groove laden bassline, and a keys solo. Good stuff.
Over on the b-side is where the soft rock comes in. Every Night is a classic set up for the catchy 70’s strut track complete with male pining over a woman vocals. Altogether a solid pairing to have in the collection. The release is a vinyl only. Grab a copy here.
